Marcus Whale x Megan Hanson collaboration is a costume Marcus and I collectively produced for his Possession 2020 performance. As well as being a part of Marcus’ Master’s work, Posession was also meant to be a part of Next Wave, 2020, but Covid-19 put a stop to the festival going ahead. Marcus was able to present an exerpt of his performance at Liveworks Livedreams: Impossible, 2020, at Carriageworks. Posession is a performance that sees Marcus become possessed by an inner demon, while he sings his haunting vocals and processes them using loops and electronic music software. The screaming face aspect of the costume was developed through conversations around the act of possession.
Marcus is such a talent, and Posession a haunting work. I am grateful for our Marcus Whale x Megan Hanson collaboration that came about through this project.
